Fearsome Engines

May, 2026

A group show at Yeo Workshop. Artists involved were Charles Lim, Debbie Ding and Hà Ninh Pham and me.

A wonderfull review in Plural by Daryl Lim Wei Jie. It is thoughtful, fun, honest and well informed. Being interviewed by him was a very wholesome experience..

From the press release: Fearsome Engines seeks to explore the poetics of game-related spaces/places and their enabling technologies. Hailing from Singapore, Vietnam and the UK, four artists engage with this material in diverse ways.

Charles Lim’s relationship to game engines is a playful one that seeks to invert expectations of how an artwork functions.

Debbie Ding employs game-related technology as a means to
explore the interstitial regions of consciousness.

Ha Ninh is a true world-builder, seeking to simulate an entire universe inside of a game space. In his painting/video hybrids.

Martin Constable seeks to celebrate the dark romance of the gaming environment.
